Trained and proven at UK superyacht yards

Scott Taylor trained and qualified in the United Kingdom. His first yacht project, in 1986, was the complete rebuild and repaint of M/Y Bellissima (48.5 m) in Lowestoft. For the next twenty years, Scott and his team faired and painted superyachts, classics and race boats at some of Britain's best-known yards. These included VT Shipbuilding (Vosper Thornycroft) in Southampton and Portchester, Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland (a 50m yacht), DML Dockyard in Devonport, Plymouth, Camper & Nicholson's in Gosport, Southampton Yacht Services and Bay Class Yachts in Kent.

Today we bring the same standard to superyachts across Asia from Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The references below are listed by date, newest first, starting with our main contractor listing at ST Marine Engineering in Singapore (August 2026). Each one is quoted word for word from the signed letter or written recommendation, with the author, company and date.

M/Y Sanongnuch · Sunseeker Manhattan 73 · Palit and Sanongnuch Bhirombhakdi

After our work on Max Marine Asia's Sunseeker Manhattan 52, the owners of a Sunseeker Manhattan 73 managed by Max Marine asked us to repaint her topsides in jet black with a red style line, in Awlgrip 545 primer and an Awlcraft acrylic urethane topcoat (now Awlcraft 3000). The owners, Palit and Sanongnuch Bhirombhakdi, wrote this letter when she was finished.

We recently had our Yacht Management Company, Max Marine Asia CO Ltd, look for the best yacht painter available. They brought onboard Yacht Refit Asia Co Ltd. Having over 25 years of experience they were recommended to us as being the best around.

Having completed the project of painting our Sunseeker 73 black we would have to agree that they were the right team. The finishing was magnificent and we know that Black is a specialized color to paint a yacht and it is very difficult to get the perfect finish. We can honestly say they went over and above what we thought they could do.

Not only has it given the yacht a new lease on life but enhanced her overall look and appeal. To our amazement, we have received numerous offers for her. She, however, is for us to enjoy....for now.

We could not recommend them more highly as they have surpassed all our expectations. Professionally run achieving everything they said they would do and meeting all time frames. Thanks Yacht Refit Asia for a great paint job!

Max Marine Asia (Sunseeker Thailand) · Sunseeker Manhattan 52 · Craig Murphy

In 2020 Max Marine Asia, the Sunseeker dealer in Thailand, asked us to return the hull and swim platform of their Sunseeker Manhattan 52 to their original black and to carry out composite repairs around the stern. Their CEO, Craig Murphy, wrote this letter when the work was finished.

To whom it may concern,

We recently required work to be carried out on our Sunseeker Manhattan 52 and were advised to use Yacht Refit Asia. They returned the hull and swim platform area back to their original colour of black. In addition, they also carried out composite repairs both in and around the stern of the vessel.

It was the first time that we have used this company, so we were a little apprehensive at first, but we were incredibly impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. They comply with western safety standards, having a well-ventilated spraying area to guarantee a clean and safe working environment to carry out the work. Their experience was evident, and we appreciate that black is a difficult colour to work with.

We will use Yacht Refit Asia – Superyacht Painters in the future and would be happy to provide a reference for other owners requiring paint works.

From 2008 Scott worked at Royal Denship, the Danish superyacht builder, as Coatings Project Manager. This letter also covers the plug and mould project at Discovery Yachts in the UK in 2007.

This is to confirm Mr. Scott Taylor has been working as a Coatings Project Manager with us at 'Royal Denship' in Denmark since October 2008. Scott and I met many years before this but we were reintroduced during the build of Mirabella V. Scott completed hull and deckhouse paintwork of Mirabella V during an extensive refurbishment.

His work is always to the best superyacht standard and to time and budget.

Mike Golding Yacht Racing · 'ECOVER' Open 60, Saxon Wharf

The team refitted and painted the IMOCA Open 60 ECOVER for Mike Golding Yacht Racing at Saxon Wharf, Southampton. The sponsor artwork had to be colour-matched exactly, on a tight racing schedule.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all, for all your efforts and hard work during our extensive refit at Saxon Wharf. I am fully aware that we had to work to a very tight time schedule, as we normally do, due to our sponsorship and racing commitments, and that there are always unforeseen problems, which try to prevent things going to plan.

As paint jobs go, it was not easy, as we had sponsor logos to build in to the artwork, which meant exact colour matching and detail had to be met. We are delighted with the way you and the boys tackled the job, with enthusiasm and professionalism, and the end result was a paint job that was almost seamless.

You will also be very pleased to hear the number of comments we received from both the general public, and other race teams, about how good the boat looked at our latest event. I look forward to working with you all at a later date, and thank you for your continuing support.

VT Shipbuilding, Southampton · S/Y Mirabella V, 75 m

In 2005 the 75 m sloop Mirabella V needed major repairs after she ran aground. The work was done at the VT Shipbuilding yard in Southampton (formerly Vosper Thornycroft, later BVT Surface Fleet). Our team painted the hull, topsides and deckhouse in Awlgrip and applied a new Hempel underwater system. When the scope grew, we also did the ceramic fairing of the keel fin.

As Project Manager responsible for sub-contractors on the Mirabella V Project, I worked very closely with Scott Taylor and his team.

The work was accomplished under extremely difficult conditions, working outside in the UK Winter.

Scott Taylor performed with professionalism and skill under these trying conditions and did his up most to help achieve on-time completion of this major refurbishment necessitated following the grounding of the vessel.

The scope of work was increased to include such items as Ceramic fairing of the Keel Fin, which Scott Taylor and his team undertook and successfully completed.

It was noticeable that Scott Taylor had a higher ratio of on-site supervision than fairer/painter contractors, a major contributing factor in the successful completion of their role.

I can highly recommend Scott Taylor and his team.

Scott and I worked on a Superyacht project in Thailand where we hired local labour and managed our individual areas of the build (Scott painting and fairing, myself electrical.) I was really impressed with the way Scott dealt with the task in hand, his team was by far the biggest of all, yet he managed to keep them under perfect control and the results were nothing short of outstanding. I have worked alongside many other companies managing the painting and fairing during other projects, but I must say, from personal experience, Scott stands out above the rest. He took a team of untrained locals, who would typically work on fishing boats and ferry's (usually using a roller!) and turned them into a Superyacht standard painting and fairing team, in a remarkably short period of time!! I would have no hesitation in recommending him for further projects I am involved with.
