Location: Ocean Marina Jomtien, Thailand · Size: 41 m · Status: Delivered Scope: Extensive paint repairs and metallic blending to a superyacht finish
The project
M/Y Victon, a 41 m motor yacht, needed extensive paint repairs while in Thailand. Her finish included metallic paint, the hardest kind of coating to repair invisibly. The aim was to restore a superyacht finish without the cost and time of a full repaint.
Why metallic repairs are difficult
Metallic paints contain flakes that reflect light differently depending on how they are sprayed: gun distance, pressure, overlap and the number of coats all change the result. A patch that matches in the shade can stand out in sunlight. Repairing metallics well means colour matching, spray technique and careful planning of where each repair ends.
Our approach
- Assessment: mapping damaged areas and deciding where to blend and where to repaint whole panels.
- Repair and fairing: repairing the substrate and fairing it back to the original line. About fairing.
- Colour matching: test panels checked against the existing finish before spraying the yacht.
- Application and blending: spraying and blending the metallic to an even, seamless finish.
- Final inspection: checking under different light before hand-over.
Working at the marina
The work was carried out at Ocean Marina Jomtien, on the Gulf of Thailand near Pattaya, where our Thailand branch is based.
What the captain said
Captain Paul Stanton commanded both Victon and M/Y Asian Poseidon (40 m Benetti), on which we also carried out painting and repair projects. He wrote:
"Their painting and repair services consistently meet and exceed superyacht standards, a level of quality demonstrably rare within the Asian region."

Repair or repaint?
Not every damaged finish needs a full repaint. If the paint system is sound and the damage is local, skilled repairs and blending can restore the yacht's appearance for a fraction of the cost and time. If the system is failing across the yacht, a repaint is better value in the long run. We tell owners honestly which applies. About full repaints · Repaint cost guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can you repair metallic paint without repainting the whole yacht?
Often, yes. With careful colour matching and blending, local repairs can be invisible.
Can repairs be done at the marina?
Many topside repairs can be done at the marina, as on Victon at Ocean Marina Jomtien.
Do you work elsewhere in Thailand?
Yes, including Bangkok. See yacht painting in Thailand and the M/Y Sea Pearl case study.
