Heading north for the season?
Many yachts built or based in New Zealand and Australia spend time in Southeast Asia, whether cruising Indonesia, Thailand and the Andaman Sea or passing through on the way to the Mediterranean. That cruising window can also be a practical time for a repaint or refit, at yards with covered paint sheds and an experienced superyacht team.
We do not have a facility in New Zealand or Australia, but we work globally. Our team travels to New Zealand and Australia to work on yachts on site there, and we welcome enquiries for on-site work; alternatively, your yacht can come to our bases in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. What we offer owners from there is a team that has worked to superyacht standards since 1990 in the UK, Europe and Asia, now based at ST Marine Engineering in Singapore, with offices at Ocean Marina in Thailand and 189 Shipyard in Haiphong, Vietnam.
Why owners look at Asia for a repaint
- Location on the route: yards in Singapore and Thailand sit on common cruising routes north and west.
- Covered, controlled painting: climate-controlled tenting and covered sheds.
- Systems you know: Awlgrip, International, Alexseal, Jotun and Hempel.
- Remote oversight: the YRA Project Status App gives owners and managers twice-daily photos and paint application reports from anywhere.
“… we are working closely with Mr Scott Taylor of Yacht Refit Asia for the securing and application of Marine coatings for various projects in Thailand and other South East Asian countries.”

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a facility in New Zealand?
No. Our offices are in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, but we work globally: our team travels to New Zealand and Australia to work on yachts there, and we welcome enquiries for on-site work. Alternatively, she can come to our bases in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. We work with New Zealand and Australian owners whose yachts are cruising or passing through Southeast Asia.
How long does a repaint take?
It depends on length and scope. Our 40 m Hyundai Yachts G40 new build took approximately eight months for full fairing and painting; refit programmes are set from the specification and yard window.
Can you paint in tropical humidity?
Yes, in climate-controlled tenting or covered paint sheds, with temperature and humidity recorded in our paint application reports.
Jotun or Hempel vs Awlgrip?
We apply all three, along with Alexseal and International. The choice depends on the existing system and specification. Jotun Australia has confirmed in writing that it works closely with us on marine coatings projects in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
