Superyacht Painters Ltd is a UK superyacht painting company with over 40 years' experience in fairing, painting and composite repair. We have already delivered work in Hong Kong, and we bring a travelling team, specialist materials and a European standard of finish to yachts berthed or laid up there.
Our Hong Kong work: M/Y Kerry (33 m)
In Hong Kong we carried out emergency hull and diesel tank composite repairs on M/Y Kerry, a 33 m Ferretti Navetta, for Burgess. The repairs were RINA approved and used vacuum bagging for consolidation and adhesion. The time frame was tight: the team had to arrive, source the right materials and complete the work, and class and insurance surveyors were satisfied with the result. Her captain, Lance Dawson, wrote a recommendation afterwards. Read the M/Y Kerry case study.
Superyacht painting services in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has a large fleet of motor yachts in the 30 to 50 m range, and many of them spend long periods in a hot, humid, salty climate. That is hard on paint. We offer:
- Paint surveys: coating condition, adhesion tests and a written specification before any money is spent.
- Localised repairs and blending: including metallic finishes, so damage can be repaired without a full repaint.
- Full fairing and full repaints: hull, topsides and superstructure in Awlgrip, Alexseal, International, Jotun or Hempel. About full repaints.
- Composite and GRP repair: structural laminate repair, vacuum bagging and class liaison. About composite repair.
- Paint project management: if you already have a yard and painting contractor, we can specify and inspect the work independently.
How a Hong Kong project runs
- Remote review: send photos, the yacht's paint history and your window. We tell you honestly whether it looks like a repair or a repaint.
- Survey visit: we inspect the yacht and agree the scope with the captain, owner's team and, where needed, the class surveyor.
- Mobilisation: our team travels with the specialist products the job needs, so local supply doesn't hold up the schedule.
- Work and records: regular progress reports and photos, with temperature and humidity recorded during paint application.
- Hand-over: a final inspection and documents for the yacht's files and class.
Working in Hong Kong's climate
High humidity and summer heat shorten the window in which coatings can be applied properly. For larger jobs we work under cover with environmental control and plan the programme around the manufacturer's application limits rather than the calendar. On composite repairs, controlled cure is just as important as the laminate itself.
Wider experience
Our team has worked on yachts in 17 countries, including full repaints on M/Y Leander G (75 m) and M/Y Indian Empress (95 m) in Awlgrip and M/Y Sea Pearl (60 m) in Alexseal. See superyacht fairing or our UK track record and references.
Frequently asked questions
Have you worked in Hong Kong before?
Yes. We completed RINA-approved emergency hull and diesel tank composite repairs on M/Y Kerry (33 m) in Hong Kong, for Burgess.
Can you repair damage without a full repaint?
Often, yes. Local repairs and blending, including metallics, can be invisible when done well. We tell you when a full repaint is the better choice.
Do you work with class surveyors?
Yes. We work to RINA, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas and ABS requirements.
How quickly can you mobilise?
It depends on the scope and materials. Contact us with photos and your deadline and we'll give you a realistic answer.
