The project
M/Y Sea Pearl, a 60 m Oceanco motor yacht, came to Bangkok Dock for a full refair and repaint. This was one of the largest paint packages a yacht of her size will have, covering far more than the topsides.
Scope of work
- Exterior: full refair and repaint of hull, topsides and superstructure in Alexseal yacht coatings.
- Engine room: repainted to the same standard.
- Underwater area: new underwater system.
- Swimming pool: refinished.
- Interior: partial interior fit-out, including furniture brightwork.
All work was completed to a high superyacht standard.
Working at height on a 60 m yacht
Large topsides need safe, steady access so the sprayer can keep a wet edge across big panels. Boom lifts were used for finishing, giving the team controlled access to every part of the superstructure. Painting in Thailand also means working with heat, humidity and seasonal rain, so the programme was planned around the manufacturer's application windows.
