Superyacht new-build painting fairing and paint subcontractor to yards

Full fairing and complete paint systems for shipyards building superyachts, with our own supervised crews, climate control and daily records.

Awlgrip · International · Alexseal · Jotun

Paint and fairing are the most visible part of a new superyacht, and they come at the end of the build, when the schedule is under the most pressure. Superyacht Painters works as a fairing and paint subcontractor to shipyards, taking the exterior finish off the yard's critical-path worries and delivering it to the standard that owners and their surveyors expect.

What we take on for the yard

  • Full fairing of steel, aluminium and composite hulls and superstructures, from batten survey to final guide coat. About fairing.
  • Complete paint systems from primer to topcoat in Alexseal, Awlgrip, Hempel, International or Jotun, to the owner's specification.
  • Underwater systems and antifouling. Antifouling and underwater hull.
  • Climate control: tenting, dehumidification and heating, with temperature, humidity and dew point logged.
  • Supervision and documentation: daily photo reports, DFT records and paint application reports for the yard, the owner's team and the surveyor.
  • Sister hulls: repeatable fairing profiles, application and colour control across a series.

Proof: three 33 m newbuilds in Haiphong

Our current newbuild work in Vietnam is a fairing and painting programme for three 33 m superyachts at 189 Shipyard, Haiphong, using the Alexseal system. Fairing began on the first hull in June 2026, under climate-controlled tenting installed on site. Running sister hulls in sequence calls for the same fairing profile, film build and colour on every hull, and that's where a documented process and experienced supervision pay off. See our Haiphong office and programme.

How we work with a shipyard

  1. Specification review: we go through the paint specification, the substrate and the acceptance criteria with the yard and the owner's team before the contract, so everyone is measuring against the same standard. About paint inspection and acceptance criteria.
  2. Programme: fairing and paint stages are planned around the yard's outfitting sequence, with hold points agreed in advance.
  3. Set-up: tenting, access and climate control are installed before surface preparation starts.
  4. Execution: our own supervised fairing and paint crews do the work, following the manufacturer's data sheets.
  5. Records: conditions, film builds and inspections are logged and shared daily, for example through the YRA Project Status App.
  6. Hand-over: a joint inspection against the agreed criteria, with the paint records handed to the yard and the owner.

Where we work

We run newbuild paint packages from our offices in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, and travel to yards elsewhere in Asia, including China and Japan. Our team has been painting yachts since 1990.
